A Little Overwhelmed

My little Abby is allergic to peanuts. A few weeks ago at church, Abby accidentally had some peanut butter and had a reaction. I figured that I should get her into an allergist so that they could determine just how bad her allergy was and if she was allergic to anything else that I didn't know about. Well, this little visit turned into a monster. Apparently allergies, eczema and asthma are all sort of related...and if you have one, you are more likely to have another. I guess poor little Abby has some asthma too...along with the eczema and peanut allergy. The doctor said she was wheezing pretty bad. I got sent home with a nebulizer, 4 different prescriptions, and an Epi-pen. Plus, I need to take Abby into a lab to have her blood drawn for 20 different things that they want to check to see if she is allergic too. I'm starring at all of this stuff hoping that I can remember what I'm supposed to do. My counter is covered in prescription boxes, tubes, bottles and creams.

Now why is it that I can't just have normal healthy children? I blame my husband! He's the sick one...

Oh Mary! I'm so sorry to hear that. I guess it can be comforting to know that you have that epi-pen if Abby gets into something but kind of scary too. Aunt Dawn had a nebulizer and inhalers and medicines too, for Chuckie, I think. He had eczema too. I remember Melissa saying it was a bit intimidating to babysit for her because of all the medications. Remember that? We'll have to get Aunt Dawn to give you some advice and let you know that it seems scary right now, but it isn't as bad as you think.
Love you,
Mommy

I'm so sorry! We do the nebulizer a lot and it's not fun watching your kids have to use those. It will help though.

Oh poor baby! What a pain for little Abby to have to deal with all this (and you too). Luckily we live in a time when we have medicines to take care of all this! Love you. See you soon! (woohoo!)

Blame Ryan, it must run in the family, my little guy Blake has all of the above as well. Peanut Allergy, Asthma and Ezcema, and we also found out at a young age that he is allergic to milk, and eggs. It is no fun@@@

I'm sorry. It's good you did find out now before something happended. It's so hard to see you kids have to go thru things like this.

I'm sorry! That sounds so complicated and nerve-wrecking. I hope everything is going all right with the nebulizer treatments and everything.

I'm so sorry to hear about Abby. Corbin has asthma and allergies, but not bad enough to have an eppi pen (yet). The only hope I can give you is that once you get it all under control medicine and stuff becomes pretty routine. And she definently has a chance of it getting better as she gets older. that's what happened for me.
