Clue

For family night the boys decided that they wanted to play clue. So we get it down, set it up and begin playing. As we near the end, Josh makes the final accusation. "I think it was done in the conservatory with the rope and Professor Plum. " Nobody has any of the cards so with a big grin on his face he reaches for the secret folder to pull out the cards. (Ryan had made a big deal about how he wasn't going to let the kids win.) His facial expressions turns to utter disappointment and confusion as the cards in the secret folder are not the conservatory or the rope. What happened? Just then Ethan smiles and yells "just kidding" and shows us all of the cards he had in his hand...the conservatory and rope along with a few others. I guess there is a reason why the box says for ages 8+. What a little trickster.

Star Fighter

Josh LOVES cub scouts. Ever since I was den leader and he was 7, he couldn't wait until he turned 8 so he could be a real member of the den. Over the last few months Ryan and Josh have been working on his car. They got online and picked out a shape for the car, then went to work sawing, shaping and sanding. It was a lot of fun to watch him get so excited about his car. He wanted to show it off to all of his friends! He named his car Star Fighter.

Last night was our Pinewood Derby. We had the talk about winning and losing and we crossed our fingers and started the race. He got really excited when his car won his first race. He won a few more races then ended up winning third place. I was really happy that he did so well. What a fun activity for the cub scouts.
Josh with his trophy. He wouldn't put it down all the rest of that night. He's very proud! Great job Josh!

I Know I Have a Baby When...

*I shower at nap time. Sometimes this isn't accomplished until noon or even later.

* I have snot and spit up on my shoulder and I sometimes go out in public that way.

* I start falling asleep at 8:30 while reading, watching a movie/TV, or sitting at the computer.

* crying just sort of blends into the background noise. I have learned to ignore it when I have to.

* a good night's sleep is just laughable.

* I spend more time in the hallway at church than I do in class.

* I find myself crawling around on my hands and knees searching for a lost binky.

* I talk in a high pitched, silly voice just to get some smiles, giggles and coos.

* I never get tired of watching them sleep.

A little Abby Quirk

I thought that I would jot this down so that I would remember. I think it's funny. Abby calls knives "sharks." Are you wondering where that even came from...it's not even close to knife! Well I tell her that knives are sharp and we shouldn't play with them. Sharp becomes shark. Some people eat with chop sticks, we eat with sharks. How about you?

My New Car

Well okay it's not my car. Ryan says my car is the van. This is HIS car. Not that I'm complaining! So do you know what that means? I have new found freedom! We've been a one car family for about a year and a half and I'm so excited to be able to have a car again to go grocery shopping during the day. Or to be able to pick up sick kids from school.

It's an older Infiniti I30, but it's been kept up really well and it drives good so we're happy! Yay for FREEDOM!

An Unexpected Guest

My sleep lately has been very broken up. Kaden has decided that he wants to wake up and eat like at around 2:30 am every morning. With his crib in my room I haven't the heart to let him cry it out or go back and forth re-inserting the binky when it falls out...so I just nurse him. I've been going to bed late and waking up early. So last night (or should I say early this morning) after I feed Kaden, I crawl back into bed and an hour later roll over onto something lumpy. What in the world? It's Abby! When did she crawl into my bed? And how come I didn't notice? Usually I wake up when she is opening my door. Sometimes I wake up with her face right there next to mine, but I've never not woken up when she's come in. Boy, I must have been out of it. I just let her sleep. When I got back from walking the boys to the bus stop, Ryan, Abby and now Kaden were all asleep in my bed. No room for me. I sighed and went to the couch with the thought that at least they are not awake yet and maybe can catch a few more z's. Maybe I should look into a king size bed...

Mommy's A Tad Bored

Yeah, so I'll admit it. I'm bored. So I decided to have some fun and get some shots of Kaden. He's 6 month old and I don't have a decent shot of him. I'm either too poor, too lazy or don't have a car to go to a real place and get Kaden's pictures done professionally. I'm no photographer, but I think these turned out really cute. What one do you like best? Number 3 is a tad blurry but hands down, my favorite is number 4!
