Star Fighter

Josh LOVES cub scouts. Ever since I was den leader and he was 7, he couldn't wait until he turned 8 so he could be a real member of the den. Over the last few months Ryan and Josh have been working on his car. They got online and picked out a shape for the car, then went to work sawing, shaping and sanding. It was a lot of fun to watch him get so excited about his car. He wanted to show it off to all of his friends! He named his car Star Fighter.

Last night was our Pinewood Derby. We had the talk about winning and losing and we crossed our fingers and started the race. He got really excited when his car won his first race. He won a few more races then ended up winning third place. I was really happy that he did so well. What a fun activity for the cub scouts.
Josh with his trophy. He wouldn't put it down all the rest of that night. He's very proud! Great job Josh!

Yay Josh! Way to go! Our pinewood derby is later next month and Brandon is pretty excited. I showed him the picture of Josh's car and he said, "I want to make my car just like that!!" :) Rebekah has to make one too. The YW in our ward are doing a Pinkwood Derby the night before the scouts. Same car kit and everything. Hope Bryan enjoys it seeing as he now has to help make 2 cars!

Yahoo! Loved seeing Josh and his Pinewood Derby car! Tell him we are so excited that he won third place! Pretty impressive. How great to have a daddy who can help you make a fast-moving, good-looking, winning-est car!
Love you,
Grandma Dalton

I think that the dad's have as much fun or more making the cars than the scouts do. I find it amazing at how some of those cars turn out for a 8-11 year old or is it 8-10 year olds making them. In our ward the men get to build their own cars and race them.
