Wake Up Call

Should I take offense at an 8 year old's comment?

Me: Gee Josh look at these weeds. They are out of control. Maybe we need to get some more weed killer and spread it around.

Josh: Why don't we just pick them?

Me: It'll be easier to just spread the weed killer.

Josh: No really Mom, it's good exercise to pick them.

Me: I think that weed killer would work better and it'd be a lot quicker too.

Josh: But Mom, you REALLY need the exercise. Remember at the park when you couldn't even hardly run back and forth across the field...

Now in my defense, we were sprinting across the field. I can only sprint for so long. I'm a much better jogger. And yes, I do need to exercise, but coming from my 8 year old, it's a bit disheartening. I guess I should get on that exercise bike again...

Bubble Babies

My bubble babies having a great time in my tub. Oh my goodness. They had the best time. They giggled and giggled. Sometimes I'm too hard on them and I don't let them just be kids. As I sat back and watched, I realized that I need to relax and just let them have a little fun, because there is nothing better than just pure laughter and delight. I loved watching every sweet minute of it!

6 and 6 Picture Tag

This is a fun tag. This is the 6th picture in my 6th folder. Josh on his first day of Kindergarten back in 2006. Boy he was excited! I have to say that I'm jealous of his small little bucket of supplies. Now, we have to come up with a whole list of things. No kidding, the list was a whole page...dry erase markers, construction paper of all sizes, sketch pads, binders and folders (and they had to be certain colors too), paper plates, ziplock bags, index cards...oh my heavens. The list went on and on. I had my Mom and Dad with me and it still took us forever to find everything on the list. Back then it was easy. Just the basics. Didn't you just love Kindergarten?

Right Now I Love....

Just a few random things that I love right now...

1- I love that Kaden can sit in a high chair and play with toys while I do the dishes.
2- I love that Abby is finally potty trained. (yahoo!)
3- I love my Primary calling.
4- I love it that dinner got made and it's all cleaned up. (at least for one day)
5- I love it when my kids finally go to sleep and I can watch what I want to watch on TV.
6- I love Kaden's little toes and dimples.
7- I love to play my new electronic piano.
8- I love that Abby fell asleep on the couch so I don't have the dreaded task of getting her to go to bed! She did it all on her own.
9- I loved it when the phone rang at 5:45 this morning informing me that school was closed today so that I could turn off my alarm and sleep in!
10- I love that I have a new book to read. I'm going to snuggle in my covers and start!

Candy Land

I've decided that playing Candy Land with a two year old is much better than playing with a 6 or even an 8 year old. We've been working on colors and shapes so I thought that Candy Land would be a great game. Abby was so excited about picking a card and then telling me what color it was. She was almost to the end when she picked the gingerbread man. Now for those of you who haven't played Candy Land in a while, the gingerbread man is all the way back at the beginning. Now the boys would have thrown a minor fit about the game not being fair, but not Abby. Boy she was so excited about that gingerbread man, she was more than willing to move her piece...it made me chuckle! Ah, isn't nice to play when it doesn't matter who wins?

Oh What Fun

Grampa came to stay the night at our house this last weekend after a business trip brought him to Texas! Oh what fun for the kids to be able to play with Grampa! Abby was delighted that he hopped right up on the trampoline with her.

We were talking about how when we were young, our grandparents looked old and decrepit. Well, not our grampa! He's still young and vibrant and will jump on the tramp with my little Abby! How we love you Dad. Thanks for visiting!

I'm growing

After having to reschedule 3 times at the doctor, Kaden finally made it in for his 4 month check up. He's growing like a weed and is as healthy as can be. He weighs 15 pounds now and is in the 75 percentile for length so he pretty long. Ryan was thrilled. He's hoping that we'll have a basketball player yet. Ethan isn't really interested in sports. Josh is only so-so. Ryan feels that he as failed them as a father :-) But here's to hoping.

Kaden is as cute as can be. He's a really good baby. Full of smiles and giggles and usually only cries if he's rolled onto his tummy...he doesn't like that much, but he does it ALL THE TIME! You'd think that he would figure it out, but he continues to roll! Maybe after a while the excitment of rolling over will die off...but then he'll be sitting up and then crawling. Oh my, does it ever stop? I don't want him to grow up anymore!
