First and foremost: BE PREPARED. I was caught being less than motherly when Kaden had a blow-out at church on Sunday. No extra clothes. Lucky Me! Usually I have something in the car for this very purpose, but Ryan had cleaned out the car for a young men activity and brought it inside. I saw the outfit on the floor that very morning and I remember thinking to myself, "Oh there is that outfit that usually is in the car. Ryan must have brought that in." But did I put it back in the car. Nope! And the one day that I needed it, I didn't have it. Luckily, a friend in the ward with a little boy Kaden's age had an extra outfit for me to borrow! He looked more like he was going to the beach than church, but we'll take what ever we can get! It's a good thing that others are prepared...
We took Ethan in to the allergist to get tested. Sure enough. Allergic to trees, weeds, grasses and cats. I guess it's a good thing that we don't have or (gulp) like cats. Sorry to cat lovers out there. We're just not one of them. Ethan did great during his skin prick test. He was a trooper. The nurse said that he was one of the best patients that she'd had and give him 2 suckers and 4 stickers. I just think that he was happy that he was able to skip a few hours of school.
Yes, I made my first ever call to Poison Control on Wednesday. I had just gotten back from grocery shopping and I had put all the bags on the table. Abby got out my Spray and Wash laundry cleaner from one of the bags and decided that she wanted a drink. She came and found me and told me that it tasted "yuck." I immediately read the back panel and it said to rinse her mouth out and give her a drink. Then it said to call poison control. Great. I of course, didn't have the number handy (like I should if I were prepared) so I had to google it. (I love the Internet.) They recommended giving her a bath and since since she didn't seem to be complaining that her mouth was hurting she should be okay. I'm just surprised that I haven't had to call them before now. One would think that with two crazy boys, I'd for sure have the number memorized. Glad to know that my boys are smart enough as to what goes in the mouth and what doesn't. Or maybe not, since Josh won't eat anything...but that's just another story!

Oh what a week. Hopefully this will be a better week. Sorry about all the allergies, that is so hard for these little kids, my heart aches everytime we have issuses with them.
When Lilian was just 3 months old she had a HUGE blowout at church. I ended up having to go home. But I guess that's easy in Utah when you live 2 minutes down the road. Harder in Texas! But it did make me start packing extra clothes for her!
Never had to call Poison Control but Carolyn's had to do it numerous times.
Sorry about the allergies. Rebekah suffers a bit from hay fever...especially dandelions...but it's not too bad. Yesterday I was weeding one of my flower beds....huge, deep, weeds that I'd let go all spring...lot of morning glory. Ugh. And I came in and could NOT stop sneezing. Eyes itching, nose running, sneezing...like 10 times in a row. It was ridiculous! So obviously I must have some hay fever type allergies as well. Sounds like yours are more serious though. That's the pits. Sorry!
I had to call poison control 3 times in like a 6 week period. The last time I called they asked for my name and I told them I did not want to give it out of fear of them calling DCSF but they said they would not and that kids eat things and it's not always the paretns fault. Made me feel a little better.
Allergies are no fun. But I'm glad that he was brave.
When Sarah was little she climbed up on the workbench in the garage and we found her sitting there happily spraying herself in the face from the gallon of heavy-duty, professional-strength roach spray we had purchased in an attempt to avoid paying for a professional roach control service (necessary in Houston). I don't know if we called poison control or not. Probably did. All I know was that she turned out okay. Well, except for those pesky memory lapses, but those only occur, what, maybe every three or four days, Sarah?
Oh Mary!! How scary to have Abby drink that!
When Sarah was little she did sort of the same thing: we had some pest spray in a container with a spray nozzle and she stuck it in her mouth and gave herself a squirt! I called poison control and did all the things they suggested like drink lots and lots of water and milk? to coat her stomach? I can't remember but she lived through it without having to go to the hospital. I'm sorry about Ethan's allergies. What a good excuse for him not to mow the lawn. :0) Ha!
Love you,
Mommy
