My poor computer has been having some difficulties as of late. A few months ago I kept getting kicked out of different programs and we were having pop-up ads all the time. So we purchased Cyber Defender to clean and protect our computer from all the nasties that were out there. Just in the last little while, my computer has been even worse. It now talks to me. About every hour or so it'll tell me, "Congratulations! You have been selected to win a free laptop computer." Or Nintendo Wii, or cell phone...the message changes from day to day. This is getting really annoying.
So I ran our Cyber Defender scan again to check for viruses and it was fine. Nothing to report...my computer was as clean as a whistle. I then ran a free scan of Norton Security. Umm, it reported that I have not 1 but 143 viruses, and 53 heuristics (whatever those are!) Yeah, I'm not surprised. My computer was acting funny. So much for our crappy purchase of Cyber Defender. It was a complete waste of 45 bucks. Can I get my money back! :-) I miss my trusty, old virus free computer. Feel good inside if you are virus free because it sure is a pain when you're not!

Shoot, I'm sorry about your computer. I get so worried about weird stuff happening on the computer, I wish people weren't freaky, and wanting to hurt people on purpose, it's just not nice.
yeah...that pretty much sucks!!! I hate it when I buy things that are an absolut waste!!!
We had a worm in our internet once. Whenever we weren't using the computer, it was using our computer to crunch out research progams. It slowed everything down to a grindingly slow rate and I used to tear out my hair waiting for things to happen. Finally Bryan discovered the problem and dewormed us. I'd be seriously annoyed that I'd spent $45 and ended up with MORE viruses than before and viruses that the program didn't catch!
Love you,
Mommy
Sorry Mary, that's the pits! Seriously annoying.
You've got to try spybot. It is a FREE download and has worked WONDERS for us (we had several computer geeks recommend it). WE were having similar problems till we got it.
I guess just do a google search for spybot to find it. . . I'll ask my hubby
Did you try to return it? I bought a virus protector that didn't do the job either so I asked to return it. I bought it on the internet and they did return my money. If not, I'm sorry. Too bad that happened to you.
I'm still just trying to figure out this blog stuff so stay patient with me while I add slowly... Kaden is so cute! See you next week.
Totally agree! I got a virus on my work computer and lost all my songs I had loaded to iTunes - some of them I actually purchased and couldn't get back. Stinks about Cyber whatever software. I'll steer clear of them.
I got a virus after trying to delete an email warning me of a virus. (No I didn't open it, just deleted.) I finally fixed my computer myself (a great feat for a computer-unsavvy over-sixty grandma) after giving up on our ani-virus programs but going into the backup and restore option and restoring it to a day just after thanksgiving when I knew I didn't have a virus. You lose any new programs you might have added since then, but that was only World of Warcraft stuff that I didn't care about. Aunt Dawn
