I'm guilty. I've been spending a bit of time watching HGTV and browsing pinterest lately, now that I have a house of my own that I can paint and fix up. I've always love wainscoting and found this board and batten type that I love. I had grand ideas for months now but was always a little nervous to get started because let's be honest here: my hubby doesn't have the time to help. (We still have a toilet and tile that we bought 6 months ago sitting in the garage because we haven't had the time to install it.) So when my sister did this in her laundry room and said that it wasn't too hard, I got excited again. The best part is: I did it all by myself. Miter saw, air compressor, nail gun, the whole bit!!! I'm not proud or anything. :)
Here are a few before shots. If you look close you can see that yes, that is wall paper on the wall. My house is covered with the stuff.
AFTER
I put up new casings around the doors and added crown molding to the top. Pretty spiffy huh? Let me tell you how frustrated I was with the dumb crown molding. But once I found this little cheat sheet, I was good to go! Don't mock! This little paper saved me from having to ask Ryan for help.Doesn't it look pretty? I'm super giddy. I just have to smile. I love it when I attempt something and it turns out good.
I'm on a role, maybe I'll go and install that stupid toilet myself since the old one doesn't flush right since Abby and Kaden flushed a toothbrush down there. I'm tired of plunging 5 times a day. You think I kid...oh no, I do not. I literally run down the hall when the kids yell, "Mom the toilet's overflowing." You would run too if you had carpet in the bathroom. True Story.
