The new house. It has great, great bones. All brick, nicely insulated. But it was built in the 1970's. Early 1970's and shall we say a tad bit dated for my tastes. Wallpaper in almost every room. Brown paneling in the basement that compliments the brown/orange 40 year old carpet. We knew that we would update as time and finances would allow. We tackled the front room first. We pulled down the wall paper. Oh my goodness what a task. Then we painted and added taller baseboards and crown molding. What a difference. I love it. It's my favorite room in the house! This room
almost makes me want to tackle another room. Almost. Give me some time to forget what a nightmare pulling down wallpaper can be. If you ever had a thought to hang wallpaper in your house. DON'T DO IT!

WOW! it's a wonderful change. I can see why it's your favorite room. I understand the frustration with a home that needs updating and limited time and funds. Keep at it, it will slowly come together (in like 6 years . . .) :)
Wow! It looks great! You did a fantastic job! Yea for having a house that you can paint and change to your hearts content! Love you! Wish we were closer so we could all come help!

What a difference!! Super pretty!!!
You did such an AWESOME job! The after pictures look amazing. Good for you!
And I HATE wallpaper. When we sold our house (the one I was living in during high school), we pulled down all of the wallpaper and put a fresh coat of paint on the entire house to make it easier to sell. It was sooo much work!
You can do it! Your house is going to look awesome and have your personal touch when you are all through with it.
