Today is March 14 (3.14), known to geeky people everywhere as "Pi Day." The boys told me last week that they needed a circle treat for math class. They will be finding the circumference of the circle items brought from home. What a fun idea. They specifically asked for Rolo cookies. That was great until I found out that they needed Rolo cookies for the entire class. Both Josh and Ethan have the same math teacher so we're looking at 50+ cookies for their two separate classes. Time consuming, but doable.
Yesterday at 3:30, when Ryan came home, I happened to mention that it was pi day today and that I was making the boys cookies. He got a horrific look on his face and being the geeky math teacher, told me that he promised the kids in his math classes that they would have a party on pi day. And that they needed pie. Yes Pie. So not only do I need to make oodles of cookies, but 10 pies just got thrown into the mix. So from 4:00 to 10:30 I'm shopping, measuring, mixing, forming, spreading and baking lots and lots of pi day treats. Ah, the things that we do for our family.
So have a happy Pi day. Go get yourself a pie to celebrate. Everyone needs a reason to have pie.

holy wow! you were the baking queen! what kinds of pies did you make? Easy chocolate or something I hope and not something hard like a fruit pie.
I totally would've bought frozen Marie Callendars pies at the grocery store....
And yes, Bryan was all geeked out about pi day. I'm pretty sure they had pie at work today...
I, on the other hand, did not get any pie to celebrate pi. But I did have some yummy chocolate cake. Does that count?
This made me laugh. . . .happy cooking, Mary!
Holy cow! That's ridiculous! I've always hated making cookies because of how time-consuming it is to make the batches. Besides that, when I make them for the heck of it, they are awesome, beautiful, and delicious. If I make them to take to anyone, something always goes wrong and they're misshapen, or hard as a rock!
And ten pies! I hope your hubbie paid you back big time because a last minute surprise like that is no fun! If he didn't pay you back, he owes you! I would have been so tempted to just buy pies from the bakery or Costco or something like that!
You are WONDERWOMAN!
